Healthy Eating and Meal Planning

Every day we make choices about the foods we eat and feed our families. Our choices can make a real difference to our health and ability to enjoy life to its fullest. Healthy eating supports wellbeing for all of us, at all ages and stages of life.

Here are four healthy eating tips to help you make choices that will allow you to feel your best:

Canada’s Food Guide

Canada’s Food Guide is made up of four food groups:

  • Vegetables and Fruits
  • Grain Products
  • Milk and Milk Alternatives
  • Meat and Meat Alternatives

Each food group contains important nutrients needed for good health, but no single food or food group can give you all the nutrients you need. This means it is important to eat a variety of food from all four food groups each day. This will help you to get all the right vitamins and minerals needed by your body.

Plan meals

Meal planning will help you to:

  • eat healthy foods
  • save time and money
  • get the family involved
